Once again another German AFV has come to light, this time near Poznan in the town of Grzegorzewo in Poland. We are indebted to Andrzej Mierzejewski and the Historical Exploring Section of Sopots Friends Society, the Polish Army, Piotr Lewandowski and sponsors for the pictures. If you are not credited and see your photo among the ones shown please let us know so that we can add your name (if you wish).
The recovery of the Stug IV is ongoing, the photographs scarcely show the very difficult conditions in which the recovery team are working (as this is an ongoing project).
The AFV lies under the railway bridge in the Rgilewka river, this has to be dammed off the help access. Heavy lifting gear, in the shape of Polish T55 ARV's help pull the vehicle from the cloying mud. Shown here are a few of the smaller finds as well as the first clear view of the vehicle, still retaining the original paint. The MG34 was on the AA mount of the top of the vehicle.
