Lying in the grass where it fell, another reminder from the last century. This is the main armament from a German Panzer IV, probably a late Ausfkampfwagen H or J. It appears to have been hit, or destroyed by its crew during the battle for Estonia. More images and descriptions below;

Firstly left; the complete barrel has survived the ravages of time, from the muzzle brake to the breech block (see below left). The entire mantlet as well as the front face of the turret is also still there. Clearly visible the port for the mantlet MG34, the weapon itself is not present.
In the picture below left we exhibit the breech block mechanism of the once potent 75mm kwk/L48 Cannon. You will note that it still clearly shows traces of the interior paint colour of the tanks turret, white.
The third image shows the breech from the right hand side. The stencilling reads "Braun Ark". This is a reference to the type of oil to be used in the tank, "Ark" being an abbreviation for the type of oil to be used in the wintery conditions of the Eastern front i.e. arctic/winter type oil. At this point we also include similar details as found on a Sturmgeschutz III, kwk/L48 used shell case tray. The legend hand painted in this case.
The Panzer IV muzzle brake, below right, that once thundered in anger and is now rendered sterile by nearly six decades of rust.
