Battlefields are interesting places, but also full of potential danger. This American shell, not having been fired, was found in Germany recently. It was found lying in the open as seen, presumably having been either accidentally ploughed up, or dug up by a relic hunter! Sensibly it has been left for the KMD to deal with!!
The shell above, also an American 75mm tank shell, has been fired and now makes an interesting "after dinner conversation piece" for a local family in Schmidt, Germany!
Lying amid the very damp earth of the Ardennes, near Schöenberg is this American fragmentation grenade. We have lost count of the number of these little devils that we and other colleagues have unearthed over the years. The maxim of this site remains the same always. Do NOT tamper with such items, even if you consider yourself an expert. A hand grenade, even in this condition can kill or maim just as easily as the day it was originally made.
Such items are not fussy about whom they hurt...
